This course will provide you with an overview of South Australian public administration and the role that public officers play in promoting and preserving its integrity.

Upon completion of this course, you will understand:                                                                                                          

  • the South Australian public integrity landscape
  • the role of the Independent Commission Against Corruption and other integrity agencies
  • integrity risks that might arise in your workplace
  • your responsibilities as a public officer, including your obligations to report corruption, misconduct, and maladministration.

The aim of the course is to equip participants with background knowledge and information required to conduct and / or oversee an internal investigation. 

This course is relevant for public officers involved in conducting, overseeing or acting upon the outcome of an internal investigation, including:

    • human resource personnel
    • finance personnel
    • internal auditors
    • risk and governance personnel
    • managers and supervisors

This is an introductory course designed to assist you understand what is a conflict of interest and how a public officer's personal interests may conflict with their public duty. 

It does not seek to give precise guidance for every occasion where public officers might encounter a conflict of interest. 

On completion of this course you will understand:

  • what a conflict of interest is
  • why and how conflicts arise
  • the different types of conflicts of interest
  • how conflicts of interest can be managed and monitored
